Campaign History in New Jersey

In February 2023, the Coalition rallied outside of the New Jersey Department of Treasury, demanding the state act to curtail out-of-control hospital prices.

In June 2023, the Coalition garnered statewide attention by boldly opposing S3756, a bill that failed to address the greatest driver of high healthcare costs: hospital prices. The Coalition penned a letter of opposition to Senate President Scutari and testified at the Senate Budget Committee’s hearing in favor of amending the bill.

Following the New Jersey general election in November of 2023, the coalition launched a multi-media ad campaign aimed at raising awareness of the hospital price issue with members of the New Jersey legislature. The ads ran in Atlantic City during the annual political conference known as The League, and then continued to run in Trenton throughout the legislative “Lame Duck session.”
At the end of the “Lame Duck session,” the coalition partnered with Senate Health Committee Chairman, Senator Vitale, to introduce the Hospital Price Transparency Act—a bill that would codify federal hospital price transparency regulations into New Jersey law. The bill was reintroduced early in the 2024 legislative session. In February, the coalition rallied supporters in Trenton to participate in a public hearing on the bill.
